When I took my first sexual abuse prevention course, I learned about grooming. I had never heard the term before. After creating written policies, I made sure to inform my team of dance educators, parents/guardians, and students about the policies that exist for their protection. By following these procedures, both dance educators and students would be protected. Everyone knew what was acceptable behavior and everyone knew how to report inappropriate behavior.
